Santai Hotel Bali ( formerly known as Gubuk Kita ) is located on the East coast of Bali, in verdant tropical gardens and with Mount Agung rising in the background. It is a 60 minutes drive North of Candi Dasa and 3 hours from Denpasar International Airport. The word 'Santai' means relax and that is just what you can do here. The drive to Santai Hotel Bali is picturesque and takes you along the coastline, through local villages, alongside rice fields and close to many places of interest. The Amed coastal area itself is off the beaten track and is a delight to explore either on foot, by motorcycle or car.

Santai Hotel has six individual Indonesian style bungalows, three Ocean View and three Garden view.
We describe Santai Hotel as a boutique hotel that caters for the traveller who wants to get away from it all and stay in 'local' high quality accommodation with the comforts of home. The detached bungalows are built in the Sulawesi style with thatched roofs and local timbers. We have where possible used local natural materials to create a Balinese ambience. The bungalows, fishponds, restaurant, and 16-metre architect designed swimming pool are surrounded by lush green gardens, full of the fragrances of frangipani and flowers of the East

For those quiet times you can relax in the gardens under the shade of the pagoda and read a book from our library or just watch the ocean gently lapping the shore. The sunrise is wonderful, and you can watch the local fisherman preparing to set sail in their unique colourful wooden sailing-boats from the beach in front of the hotel. After the fisherman have unloaded their daily catch why not arrange to go and try your hand at a little fishing yourself, or just take a leisurely scenic sail along the coast.

As Amed is off the beaten track and mobile phones do not work here, take advantage of the peace while you can! For anyone needing to make a call or send a fax, we have very recently acquired a telephone service. Internet services are available in the area

Rooms Description :
Simplicity is the key to the understated elegance of the rooms. Each room is individually furnished and decorated using hand made products from local villages. The three Ocean View bungalows are slightly larger than the Garden view bungalows. Otherwise all have the same floor plan and facilities including mini bars

Each bungalow has a large front deck with comfortable lounge sofas and chairs, just right for having breakfast on or taking an afternoon snooze. There is sleeping accommodation for four people, with either a large double or queen size four poster bed on the ground floor and a double or twin beds in the open plan mezzanine loft style room upstairs. The 'open air' style bathrooms have hot water showers, with w.c. and vanity units set in an indoor garden. All the bungalows have individually controlled air-conditioning

About Dining ? The restaurant serves a blend of Indonesian, Balinese and Western food. (Our houseguests and other visitors to the area who dine with us tell us it's the best in the area.) Try some of the local dishes ranging from grilled or B.B.Q freshly caught fish cooked with Balinese spices and sauces (barracuda is a favourite) to Gado Gado, a wonderful warm vegetarian salad with lashings of peanut sauce. We also offer a variety of imported food for those travelers who long for something familiar. We stock imported spirits and beer as well as local wines (very drinkable) and local beer. But don't forget to try our barman's special cocktail creations. For early risers a complimentary tray of tea and coffee is served on your deck each morning.
